Highlight of the Week
What a week! Braelynn & I have spent the entire last week at Papa & Nana’s house (Derrick’s parents)! I photographed Jess & Adam’s wedding last Saturday and I have Chris & Chrissy’s wedding today – so we just stayed the week in between! It has been a GORGEOUS wonderful week – we’ve so enjoyed spending the extra, extended time with the Abbey’s!
I also scheduled photoshoots every single day for this past week. It was a gamble. I was originally planning on leaving at least one day open, just in case we had some rain or bad weather, but I decided to gamble & it totally paid off! I was able to catch up with all of my regular “fall portrait” families (some of which I’ve been photographing for the last 7 years!!), I snuck in a few fun senior sessions, and an engagement session too! It’s been a packed week – absolutely crazy – but so much fun!
Just to prove it, I counted up the number of frames my camera has shot in the last 7 days. Does anyone want to guess? It’s a little crazy. Ready?

And I’m about to head out to Chris & Chrissy’s wedding & add another 2,500-3,000 to that number!
Yes, This Happened
- One morning this week, Braelynn, Nana, and I were out taking a walk around their property. Papa & Nana’s neighbors have horses, so we walked over to look at them. Then on the other side of the horses, is a chicken coop. Knowing there were chickens over there, Braelynn specifically requested that we go see the “Cock-a-doodle-doo’s” next.
- Braelynn has been proving herself quite the stinker this week. Derrick’s Mom just keeps laughing because she says she’s just like her Daddy. She’s proven to be quite the climber & quick-change-artist – getting into white-out, chapstick, soap, nail polish, and stealing food from the counter.
- Megan & Marty’s summer wedding from last year was featured on The Princess Inspired this week! It’s so exciting to know that, not only has a blog editor found your work quality enough to feature on their blog, but to know that a whole new audience is seeing it too! Seeking publication is something I only started to do about a year ago & it’s been so much fun!
- Last night, Derrick & I booked my birthday present! I am so so so excited – I just have to wait until the last weekend of October! Any guesses what it might be?!
Feeling Blessed
After a week away, Braelynn & I have really been missing Derrick (and Abby too)! Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait until Sunday to see him, as he came up last night! Derrick is my second-shooter for this weekend & I’m actually pretty excited! He second-shot a few weddings last year with Ellen & I and it was really quite enjoyable to have him be a part of my “wedding world”. He definitely has more of a cinematic eye – so I think we balance each other out really well. I’m so excited to spend the entire day today working a wedding with my favorite person!
