Kalahari in Sandusky, OH | The Adventuring Abbeys Vlog

We booked this specific weekend at Kalahari (a massive indoor water park in Sandusky, Ohio) way back at the beginning of this year! They were running a major promo and we thought it would be fun to visit right after Leander’s 5th before, right before Christmas.

Derrick and I have been to Kalahari before – we came back in 2017 for my 30th birthday! At the time, we just had Braelynn, and it was the very first time we went anywhere without her (I cried over my coffee in front of the elephant in the lobby – so it was a bit surreal to be back in the exact same spot with BOTH of my kids!) When we visited in 2017, all we could think was: “Braelynn would LOVE it here!” and well, we were right!

We had the most fantastic time as our OFFICIAL last hurrah of 2023! Even though our children are not big fans of “big” waterslides (they love the little and medium sized ones, but aren’t quite ready for the BIG ones yet) – there was still PLENTY of activities to keep us occupied and busy for an entire weekend! And we barely scratched the surface – Kalahari has so much more to offer than just the waterpark (but our kids love to swim, so that’s where we spent most of our time).

The property and lobby were all decked out for Christmas – it truly was an amazing little getaway right before the holidays.

OH and Leander lost his second tooth as we were eating dinner Saturday night! Needless to say: the tooth fairy delivers BIG TIME when you’re staying in a resort! (He and Braelynn had specifically pointed out these lions earlier in the day, and after they fell asleep that night, we worked our “magic”!)

You know we couldn’t be in Sandusky and NOT stopping by to check on the progress for Top Thrill 2 at Cedar Point! (By total coincidence, we missed seeing it actually test by less than 24 hours!)
