HI I'M KARA ABBEY!
My photography career began in 2008 when my best friend asked me if I would use my “nice” camera & take a few engagement photos for her & her fiance. I had no idea what I was doing, but I came home that night knowing that I needed to learn & do more.
Since then, I have trained under some of the most amazing photographers, took a bunch of college courses, and interned at Walt Disney World. It all led up to me photographing my first wedding in 2009. I was instantly hooked.
I took my business full time in 2014. Since then, I have won multiple awards, been featured on various wedding blogs and even had my work featured in a gallery in downtown Pittsburgh.
Weddings are my absolute favorite things to photograph. I love meeting a bride & groom, getting to know them & their story, becoming friends, and then being able to document their “Day One”. I love the relationship I build with my couples that allows me to arrive on a wedding day as an “old friend” instead of “just another vendor.”
“Our wedding day was not what we planned: we had to change our venue, caterer, and re-plan the whole thing at 6 weeks before our date. However, the one thing we didn’t have to stress about was Kara! I don't believe in "hidden" fees, however, if your wedding is outside of the two locations I regularly shoot in (my hometown of Irwin, PA & the surrounding areas and my secondary summer home in Deep Creek Lake, MD), we may have to talk about an additional travel fee. Let's chat about it!
