If you’ve followed my blog for a length of time, you’ll remember that in the past, I had created very specific bucket lists for myself & our family with each new season. But it’s been a while since I’ve done that! In fact, it’s been over a year since I created any seasonal bucket lists! So today, in honor of it being the first day of fall (how did that happen?!) I decided to put together a fun little fall family “bucket list” for this upcoming crisp & cozy season.
I don’t know about you, but when I think about “fall”, I think of wearing hoodies, once again breaking out all of our soft blankets, sipping hot drinks, and wearing fuzzy socks. I think of the leaves shedding their glorious green summer attire in exchange for vibrant coats of color. I think of the sun being warm, but the air being cool. I think of the excitement that fall brings – because shortly after fall comes the joy of birthday season in our house & Christmas! I think about quieter, simpler, less busy evenings at home, all snuggled up together watching movies, playing games, and simply being together.
I know I’ve kind of been whining a little bit about the end of summer coming so quickly – and summer truly is my very favorite season – but there’s just something so delicious about fall. Maybe it’s the fresh apples, the spaghetti squash, the pumpkins – all the comfort food coming back to life. Maybe it’s the warmth of the crockpot as chili or soup slowly simmers all day long. Maybe it’s simply that quiet call to come inside – as the days get shorter & darker & cooler.
I will definitely miss summer (and let’s definitely not talk about what comes after fall) but I’m looking forward to this next, delightful, season.
