Dear Derrick,
5 years ago today we started this crazy journey together.
Literally- crazy.
We’ve gone to a lot of theme parks and ridden a lot of roller coasters – but none of them compare to this adventure we’ve been on together. We’ve lived in a camper, spent time living in both of our parent’s houses, and owned a beautiful home. We’ve traveled, gone on some pretty fantastic vacations, and seen things I didn’t know I’d ever see. You’ve gone through about 37 different haircuts. I started a business (of which you are my biggest fan- thank you!) We’ve worked hard, saved money, made big purchases, paid off a lot of student loans, and are in the home stretch of being completely debt free! And of course, our most recent adventure: we had a beautiful baby girl together & are now parents!
When we said “I do” on that rainy-sunny-oh-back-to-rainy day, 5 years ago, I never imagined that this is where our lives would take us. Some things I figured would happen sooner (we’d wait 5 years to have a baby?!) and other things I never thought would happen again (say hello to living with Mom & Dad again), but through it all, we’ve stuck together and made this beautiful life for ourselves. I honestly don’t think that Braelynn (and any other babies we might have) will ever believe the stories we’ll tell them of things we’ve done.
I can’t believe it’s been 5 years. It has gone by so fast – but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I can’t wait to see what the next 5-10-50 years will bring!
