- Happy Mother’s Day weekend!

We took it with my camera on a tripod and it set to an interval timer – win!) - Remember that time a few weeks ago where I was going absolutely stir-crazy because we didn’t really have anything going on, we didn’t have any upcoming plans, and it felt like we were just sitting at home waiting for summer to arrive?
Well, summer has arrived (and I won’t lie: I’m here for it.) - Last week, we spent the week in Williamsburg, Virginia! Derrick came down at the beginning of the week, and then left to drive up to Rochester for work, and then came back down at the end of the week, picking up my Dad along the way!
The kids and I, and my Mom (!) spent the entire week in Virginia – relaxing, swimming, adventuring – we had a blast! It wasn’t warm, temps barely got up into the 60’s for most of the week (and it rained three of the seven of the days), but it was way better than what they were getting back at home (spoiler: temps were in the 30’s at home and they saw flurries!) So, we just kept saying: a chilly day at the beach is better than snow at home (HAHA).
We have tons of videos and photos to share (we spent three days at Busch Gardens Williamsburg), so I’ll save the rest of the stories for when I write that blog post! - I shot my very first engagement session of the year this week! It was so beautiful and fun and green!! It was only supposed to be a “mini” engagement session (about 30 minutes long) – don’t tell anyone, but we ended up hanging out/shooting for over an hour. Oops. Turns out, I just can’t help myself and truly should not schedule “mini” engagement sessions (now I know better!) It was seriously the best though and I can’t wait to show off the images!
- My children watched SING while we were on vacation last week and then we watched SING 2 Sunday night – so needless to say, they’ve been obsessed with the characters and music all this week. They’ve been putting on singing competitions with their figures and stuffed animals, can be heard calling out: “Mr. Moon! Miss Crawley!” as they run through the house, and (the best/worst part) you will now sporadically hear Leander waltzing around the house singing, “Oh my gosh, look at her butt.”
- Derrick and Leander got haircuts this week! All I can say is: we have come a long LONG way since Leander’s first haircut, where he literally screamed and refused to get his hair trimmed at all. He now will sit up in the chair all by himself and stays (pretty) still. He still hates the clippers, but will let our wonderful hair stylist trim his hair with scissors just fine. He no longer has a mullet – so we’re good!
- Did I ever mention how much I hate ants? No matter what we do, they seem to continually invade our house. We’ve tried all the normal “safe” methods for keeping them out, and they seem more determined than ever this year to get in. UGH.
- We planted a slew of seeds in seed trays a few weeks ago and guess what?! They’ve all grown and are THRIVING! I can hardly believe it! We need to start the process of acclimating them to the outdoors and then transplant them – and I’m slightly terrified. They’ve done so good in my laundry room window – I’m so scared of killing them once I take them outside! We’re going to start that process next week, so stay tuned!
- My first wedding of the season is TODAY! I’m a big ball of nerves and excitement – no matter how many weddings I photograph, I always wake up super anxious the morning of a wedding. Being a wedding photographer is a massive responsibility and one I never take lightly, so it’s definitely nerve-wracking (until I actually arrive, get in the groove, and start working – then the nerves fade away and I remember how much I really-truly-love my job!)
