- Happy October!
Remember how I got our pumpkins a few weeks ago? (And we had some critter come along and attempt to eat them?) We decided to carve them this week. Braelynn’s been asking to carve our pumpkins ever since I got them – and we decided it was time this week. (Mostly because, we were nervous that those chunks eaten out of our pumpkins were going to rot the entire pumpkins away.) This year, Braelynn carved her pumpkin all by herself. She initially started out by drawing a pretty intricate unicorn shape that she wanted to carve, but we convinced her to go with something simpler. (Can you guess which pumpkin is hers?) - I’ve wanted to try this particular “ghost” photo with Abby for a few years and I finally made it happen! Let’s just say, Abby was not a fan.
- The calendar might have turned over into October this week and we might have carved our pumpkins this week, but it sure didn’t feel like fall this week! Up until yesterday, it still felt like summer (we were all wearing shorts and living outside). It was glorious and wonderful and I wish it could have stayed, but the rain rolled in yesterday and suddenly it feels like fall again today.
- In fact, it was quite crazy, but I had my fall mini sessions last Sunday – and it was 80º. My poor families showed up in (mostly) fall attire and I know they were all hot, but I’d so much rather it be warmer and sunny than cooler and rainy.
- Speaking of last weekend – it was busy. We visited Kennywood Park on Saturday for their Phantom Fall Fest (my vlog of our day comes out tomorrow!) Then Braelynn was invited to a birthday party last Saturday night (it was at an indoor parkour park and she had a blast). Then Sunday was my mini session day and I shot family sessions all day – needless to say, by the time Sunday night rolled around, I was beat.
- On Thursday, my boys finally got their hair cut! Leander hasn’t had a hair cut since before we went on vacation earlier this spring. His hair was long – he had a solid “swoop” going on (you know, when your hair is so long that it hangs in your eyes and you toss your head to “throw” it out of your eyes?) Thankfully, this hair cut experience was the best yet (remember back in the day when he used to straight up refuse to get his hair cut and we had to basically pin him down?) But he did great on Thursday – he sat still, wasn’t so timid, and he got a great hair cut. She was able to trim him up, still keep a lot of his adorable length, but make it look so much cleaner.
- The kids found a renewed love of Toy Story this week! I’m not sure what made her do it, but Braelynn decided to watch Toy Story (the original) one morning while I was taking my shower and that led them into the other Toy Story movies, plus the shorts – which led the kids into asking to get the Toy Story toys out (I had put them away in the attic about a year ago because they hadn’t been playing with them) – and thus began a whole new “season” of play. Jessie has gotten carried around with us all week (both Braelynn and Leander seem particularly found of her, but Buzz has gotten quite a lot of love too). It’s been a lot of fun!
