Happy New Year!
2018 – here we come!
I love this time of year.
I love the anticipation of Christmas – all the joy & excitement it brings! Then we’re immediately presented with the fresh blank slate with the beginning of a new year. Resolutions, a word of the year, plans, good intentions – it’s all so exciting to me. We woke up this morning to a fresh few inches of snow. Everything is so clean, and quiet, and perfect. Our backyard has no footprints, no snowmen, & no poop – it’s all just a blank slate. It’s gorgeous. And just waiting to be played in & enjoyed. That’s what this time of year feels like to me: a blank canvas.
As a bit of a re-cap, our Christmas was wonderful. Swift & speedy, but sensational. We spent several days with Derrick’s family & then were home for a fast & furious (white!!) Christmas Day here at our house. It was all over so fast.
Braelynn wasn’t as into it as I thought she’d be. She didn’t even open all of her gifts Christmas Day! Don’t most toddlers tear through gifts like crazy people? She was content to open a few things & simply wanted to play with what she opened. We didn’t press her and saved the few things she didn’t open for later. She’s less than a month away from her 3rd birthday, so fingers crossed that she gets into present-mode by then!
We’ve spent the last week in that “in-between-holidays” funk. Clinging to Christmas, looking forward to New Years, not sure what day it is, trying to take time off but also still be productive – it’s been kind of weird.
We’re so excited for 2018!
