Highlight of the Week
We got a pool! Okay, I know your imagination might instantly go to a big swimming pool that takes up half the yard – no not quite. I picked up a medium-sized blow-up pool at the store last week & of course, ever since I got it, it’s been freezing out (no, I’m not kidding, we’ve had to wear coats a few days). But the weather finally turned a corner yesterday & decided to get back around to summer-time & so we broke it out! Braelynn is obsessed. And I’m not complaining about the excuse to sit out in the sunshine!
Yes, This Happened
- Yard sales people – they’re the best. ‘Nough said.
- My baby sister’s 12th birthday was this week. She spent the night before her birthday here and Braelynn woke her up the morning of her birthday saying, “Ruby! Ruby! You have to wake up! It’s your birthday!”
- Speaking of my baby sister – she has also officially started working for me this week! She came over twice for a few hours to keep an eye on the munchkin while I got some dedicated work done (which, if you continue reading, you’ll know was much needed). With the most weddings I have every photographed on my calendar for this year, it was definitely time to bring in some reinforcements!
- BEDTIME SAGA: omigosh y’all: why is bedtime so hard all of a sudden?! So, we transitioned Braelynn into a toddler bed a few weeks ago for multiple reasons – the main one being, with all of our traveling we do during the summer months, it would just be easiest if she could be good with sleeping in a bed on her own. The first week was fabulous – no problems. Then she realized she could get out of the bed on her own. It’s been downhill ever since. Bedtime has turned into the worst part of our day & it’s so frustrating! It all climaxed on Wednesday night when it took almost 2 hours to get her to sleep. Seriously. And as a work-at-home-Mama, I need those few hours post-bedtime to catch up on work. So, enough was enough, we brought her crib back down. Thursday night was a dream – we put her to bed & that was it! It was like a breath of fresh air. Then Friday rolled around & I tried to put Braelynn down for a nap. And that’s when she figured out that she could climb out of her crib. (Can you see my face right now? I’m giving my computer the angry eyes). I seriously don’t know what to do! I’m at my wits end (and I guess we’ll be pulling her toddler bed back out). Send HELP & QUICK!
Feeling Blessed
This weekend we are celebrating Derrick’s birthday! His birthday is on Sunday, and for the 2nd year in a row, I will be shooting a wedding on his birthday (good thing he’s totally cool with it). We are celebrating today though doing the one thing he loves the most – can you guess what it is? If you’ve followed along with my blog for any length of time, you can probably figure out that it’s riding roller coasters! We are taking a day-trip to hit up 2 very small Pennsylvania parks with some unique roller coasters & of course, we all know, Derrick will be in his glory.
I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband!
