Abby’s Saturday // Thirty

D&K adventures: We are going on a cruise with my family in just a few weeks!! So, we’ve been digging through things and trying to slowly collect some stuff that we’ll need. On the list of things to buy was a pair of flip-flops for Derrick – talk about a challenging task! We hit up 4 or 5 stores this week in search of flip-flops – he doesn’t like Old Navy flip-flops, so those were out, and he wears such a ridiculous size that it truly is a challenge sometimes! We finally found a pair today at Kohl’s that met his flip-flop standard! I almost shouted out loud: “thank you sweet baby Jesus!” I’m just glad we can check that one off our list & not have to worry about it anymore!

Abby’s antics: We’re all so ready for warmer weather! Abby’s been bonkers this week all cooped up in the house. Normally, Derrick will play with her outside after we get home from work – but since the temperature has been just above freezing this week, all of our snow is slowly melting! It’s grand because it actually feels like spring might be around the corner, but it has also turned our backyard into a swamp. And since giving the pup a bath every night isn’t really an option, we simply haven’t been letting her outside to romp around as much. Hopefully that will change very soon though!

Radiating thankfulness: Today was Landy’s first birthday party! It’s so hard to believe it’s been a whole year since I took photos of his sweet little new-ness! He is quite the handsome little man – we did a mini-birthday session a few weeks ago, but the photos were a surprise for his party so I didn’t want to spoil them – but now that his party is over, look for them soon!! His Mama is so so sweet: she quite sternly told me to come to the party but NOT to bring my camera. She told me I was supposed to attend the party and enjoy it instead of running around taking pictures. It was sooo nice. Don’t get me wrong – I love love love taking photos – but it can be draining when people simply expect you to come to their family gathering/birthday party/event and photograph the whole thing for them. I truly don’t mind – but sometimes it’s nice to simply sit back and enjoy the party too!
