- Happy month of May!!
- In the most “devious-little-brother” thing that he has ever done, Leander (quite unknowingly) pulled off the perfect “prank” this week. On Wednesday, he & Braelynn were playing in her bedroom, and he decided to experiment a bit with the buttons on her digital clock. Unknown to any of us, he decided to switch ON the alarm. Now, normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal: the alarm would go off, we’d all wonder: What in the world is that sound? We’d buzz around the house to investigate, and we’d figure it out. HOWEVER – the time that the alarm was set to was 2:09AM. So, as our entire house was deep asleep Wednesday night, Braelynn’s alarm went off (and it sounded like a bullhorn – it was SO loud!) Braelynn woke up immediately, completely panicking & screaming for Derrick & I. We literally jumped (out of our skin) and then out of bed to run into her room. Of course, we knew what an alarm clock sounds like, but Braelynn had no clue & was super freaked out.
And Leander slept thru the whole ordeal. - I got this swimsuit & I am OBSESSED with it.
Bathing suit shopping is always a challenge (to say the least), but I must say, ordering suits from Amazon & trying them on at home is quite delightful (and the suit I got is the first one I ordered!) - Ahead of a big trip that we’re taking, Derrick took our car over to our mechanic to just have him look everything over & make sure it was ready to go. He called Derrick on Tuesday & said: “Your car is fabulous, tires & fluids good, there’s just one problem: you have a hole in your muffler.” Derrick claims he had a feeling something like this was the case as he says he noticed the car running louder than usual (I, of course, was completely oblivious). Of course – getting a new muffler is easier said than done: there is only one muffler (straight from Mitsubishi) that we can get & it’s out of stock everywhere local, so one had to be ordered in. Needless to say: I haven’t had a car all week while it’s been sitting at the garage, waiting for a new, shiny muffler.
- Last Saturday I photographed Kim & Dan’s wedding & I blogged about it this week, did you catch it?
- I kind of fell off the spring cleaning wagon for a few weeks, but I got back on this week!! We had a snap of colder weather (see last week’s Abby’s Saturday photo in the snow), but something about the return to warm weather this week prodded me back into action. I actually pulled out my washer & dryer & swept up all the dust & random stuff that gets lost back there. I know it’s not something I can walk into my laundry room & see, but it just feels so nice to know how clean it is now!! I also cleaned out & re-organized Braelynn’s school bookshelf, her game drawer, and the drawer we keep all her craft/activity books/playdoh in.
- Speaking of Braelynn – she is officially done with her school year!! YAY! She completed Kindergarten!! I’m SO proud of my big girl & how much she’s learned this year! It’s actually quite amazing to me to think back to the “level” she was at when we started the school year, and see where she is now. She can now read simple words, and can sound out more complex words – she can spell words out, her handwriting gets better every single day, and she can do basic math problems. I’m just in awe of how far we’ve come over the last school year & it just makes me even more excited for next year!! Of course, we’re both very much looking forward to a break – summer, here we come!
