Abby’s Saturday // Three Hundred And Thirty

Abbys Saturday Black Lab Sitting in Front of the Christmas Tree in Irwin PA
  • So, if today’s Abby’s Saturday photo looks familiar, it should! I have taken a “Silhouette” photo at the Christmas tree (almost) every year now & of course, this year is no exception! If you’d like a stroll down memory lane, here are the other Abby silhouette photos in front of the Christmas tree that I’ve taken – starting in 2013: #16, #74#124#177#230, #278 (2014 is the only year I did not take an Abby silhouette photo & that’s because we were moving across the state at the time & living with my parents!)
  • Did you read our Christmas Letter this week?
  • We got a big snowstorm this week!! Whenever it is predicted that we’ll get a significant (re: 6+ inches) amount of snow, we are always a bit skeptical – these things rarely seem to play out – but lo & behold, it actually happened! It snowed for just shy of 24 hours on Wednesday & dropped about a foot of snow on us! Braelynn was beyond herself – she LOVES the snow & was asking to go out to play before we even had a full inch on the ground. Leander, on the other hand, hates the snow – so that makes things fun. He wants to go outside, because he loves being outside, but he hates all the snow-gear I dress him up in & hates being cold. It’s kind of hilarious. So, during his nap on Thursday – Braelynn & I went out & built a snowman! I also ran over to my sister’s house (in the middle of the storm) to take some impromptu Christmas photos for her & Nathan!
  • This week has been WRAPPING WEEK. I’ve been done Christmas shopping for a while, but this is the week I needed to start pulling everything together & wrapping.
I am NOT a huge fan of wrapping presents. I mean, I love when a gift is beautifully wrapped – but I am just not very good at it. I think my problem is that I’m constantly trying to squeeze too much gift into too little wrapping paper (I mean, that stuff costs a lot of money! And I love efficiency!) But, it’s something I’m working on.
I’ve learned that a cup of something nice to drink, the Christmas lights turned on, plus something good on the TV (The Office anyone?) makes the wrapping process a much more enjoyable process.
ALSO – can we just talk about WRAPPING PAPER for a moment? I bought a few rolls this year, but have never paid attention to whether it has lines on the back or not? Well, the first few rounds of gifts I wrapped had lines on the back of the paper (so you can cut nice, straight, even lines). However, my last roll of paper (which I started into last night) does NOT have the lines & LET ME TELL YOU – my little Enneagram 1 heart was NOT happy about that! Does that make me a wrapping paper snob? I don’t know, I just know that I’ll be looking for paper with lines on the back from now on.
  • Speaking of The Office – Derrick & I are watching the show again. Something about the Christmas season makes us want to watch The Office. We’re mid-way thru Season 4.
  • Oh, and while we’re on the topic of TV shows: do you watch The Mandalorian? How about that season finale last night?! (I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about it.)
  • Derrick took Braelynn on a “shopping” date last night! They went to Target so Braelynn could pick out a few little gifts & it was so precious! I think more Daddy/Daughter dates need to happen in the near future!
  • We are officially in Christmas Mode. Derrick is on vacation all next week – so it’s officially Christmas in our house! Because of how the week is (slated) to fall – we are actually having our Christmas Day on Monday & I am SO excited. I absolutely cannot wait to see the kid’s faces when they come down to all the presents under our tree – I can’t wait to see them open all their gifts – it is going to be so so magical!
AND THAT MEANS – I will officially be “signing off” from things for a little bit! I still have some things scheduled to automatically post, but for the most part, I will be taking some time off & stepping away from my business!
And I hope you get a chance to do the same! Merry Christmas to you & your families – I hope your next week is absolutely magical!
