Abby’s Saturday // Three Hundred And Twenty-Eight

Abbys Saturday Kids & Dog Wrapped Up In Christmas Lights
  • Happy December!
It’s my favorite time of year for Abby’s Saturday photos because I basically take the same “themed” photos every year & I love to see how my photos evolve year over year (plus, it’s fun to watch the kids grow & change every year thru similar photos!)
So, here we go! I’ve wrapped Braelynn & Abby up in lights before & this year, we added Leander to the mix (even though, he thought we were giving him permission to eat the lights – oops!) If you’d like to see the similar photos I’ve taken in the past, you can see those here: #173, #126, #75
  • This week was a big exciting week in our house: it was Leander’s birthday! Our sweet boy turned 2 years old this week (that’s so hard to believe)! Under normal circumstances, we would have gone out to eat & celebrated our boy, but instead, we got take-out & just had cupcakes at home. Last night, we had a small party, but it still wasn’t the same without my Grandparents, Derrick’s parents, & some of my extended family we typically invite. Thankfully, Leander will not remember any of that – he won’t remember that the year he turned 2 was the craziest year ever & things were anything but “normal”. What I do hope he has memories of though is how much we love him!
  • While I was baking Leander’s cake on Thursday, Braelynn came thru the kitchen & saw me measuring out ingredients and she asked what I was pouring. “It’s oil,” I said. She nodded her head, “Oh okay, so this is going to be like, medicine cake?”
We’ve been diffusing a lot of essential oils in our house lately & it was just so funny to see her assume that there was only one kind of oil!
  • After being super sick all week last week – we’re finally all feeling much better! We all turned a major corner on Monday/Tuesday of this week & have been on the mends ever since.
  • I have been in major “deep cleaning” mode this week (probably due to us all being sick & just wanting to banish any sort of germs from our house!) It all started when I dissected our dishwasher – I literally pulled it all out & pulled all the pieces out & scrubbed them all down with bleach. It was SO disgusting! Our dishes just weren’t coming as clean as I wanted them to, so I decided it needed a good cleaning – and what I discovered when I began tearing into things was absolutely horrifying. I hate using bleach – it always scares me – but there was nothing I could imagine using to clean the guts of our dishwasher out. I soaked everything in bleach, scrubbed everything with bleach, and then ran a super-hot cycle thru the dishwasher with bleach – it was an all-day super-intensive project, but I’m SO happy with the results (and my dishes are so clean now!)
  • We got our first snow of the season this week! Tuesday morning we woke up to a few inches of snow on the ground & Braelynn could not get outside fast enough! It was a bit of a process to find everyone’s snow stuff, but I eventually got her outside & then turned to dress Leander & myself up for the snow. As excited as Leander was to go outside – he was NOT thrilled by the snowpants, coat, gloves, and hat I put on his head. In fact, all he did was cry! I thought as soon as we went outside, that he’d get over it & run around with his sister & play, but NOPE – he just stood there & cried. I eventually took him back inside & we watched Braelynn & Abby play outside from the window. On Wednesday, we made another attempt to go outside – this time with no hat or gloves & with his blankie in hand & that was much better (as in, he didn’t cry this time). He still wasn’t thrilled with the snow – I guess my boy is just a warm-weather bird. Braelynn on the other hand would have stayed outside all day long – she loves the snow!
  • The other big news of the week: Derrick & I got new phones! We ordered them over Black Friday due to the great trade-in deals we found & we received them this week! It’s been so much fun to play with all the new features – I cannot wait to use my new phone to vlog this summer at amusement parks!! (Just in case you were wondering: I jumped from an iPhone 7, to the iPhone 12Pro – talk about a MASSIVE upgrade!!)
