Abby’s Saturday // Three Hundred And Twenty-One

Abbys Saturday Happy Birthday to ME in Irwin PA
  • I have taken 320 Abby’s Saturday photos and I honestly can not think of ONE that I am in. So, with my 321st Abby’s Saturday post – I’m changing that!
  • Because, today is my birthday!! So, it seemed only fitting that I get to join Abby in the photo for today. I’m celebrating my birthday by shooting a double-header wedding weekend! I had a wedding yesterday & I have another today. I’m so thankful to get to do a job I love and I truly do not mind “working” on my birthday!
  • We’ve had a busy busy week – I have a love-hate relationship with busy weeks. I enjoy being busy, but at the same time, I’m an introvert who loves having time to myself that I don’t have to be “on”. (That probably sounds a little weird.) We had something going on every single day this week – so as fun as that was – I’m definitely looking forward to next week when I only have one thing on my calendar!
  • Two of the “things” this week were virtual meetings: Tuesday night was our Tuesday’s Together meeting & Wednesday night I had a wedding photography consult. Technology is surely incredible that I can sit in my office (or Derrick’s office) & chat with people all over the place! OH & just in case you were wondering – my office is also our laundry room – so I can’t really sit there for meetings I have to be “pretty” in (like wedding consults), so I sit upstairs in Derrick’s office which looks much more like an office space (although, it’s a disaster right now – they announced that there would be a Just Between Friends consignment sale in Monroeville the first week of November, so I pulled all of our stuff out & started the process of sorting things to sell, so half of our 3rd floor has been overtaken with kids stuff.) Someday I’ll have a “pretty” office – but until then, I love my little corner of the laundry room!
  • Speaking of virtual meetings – no matter how much I plan & strategize, a little person always seems to sneak into my meetings! I specifically plan meetings to happen when Derrick is home & can keep an eye on the kids, but it never seems to fail that Braelynn sneaks away & sneaks in on my meeting. She’s just so curious & can’t stay away! (So, if you’re a perspective bride & groom – just be warned that she’ll probably pop into our call at one point or another!)
  • I went to the dentist on Thursday to have my tooth fixed. I told the story a few weeks ago – but in a nutshell: on one of our last rides on the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood this year, Braelynn & I rode in the very last row. As we hit the bottom of the double-down, it jarred us pretty good & my jaw smashed together super hard. My teeth hurt for a while, and then every once in a while, my one tooth would ache. I asked the dentist about it when we went in for our cleanings a few weeks ago & they said they could tell that I had chipped a piece of that tooth off. So, on Thursday, I went in & they smoothed that chipped part out & then re-sealed my tooth. They said, it might solve the problem & it might not, but they wanted to try that before doing anything more invasive. So far, so good! My tooth has felt perfectly normal ever since & I am SO SO thankful!
  • One day this week, while I was talking to Derrick on the phone, the kids wanted to say “hi”, so I put the phone on speaker & they were chatting with him. As they finished up, Derrick was saying “bye” and Leander said, clear as day, “love you, bye”. Cue all the water-works on my end – I’ve been trying to get the kid to say “love you” to me for weeks and then he goes & sporadically says it to Derrick?! The kicker: Leander was holding the phone at the moment & had pushed the “mute” button – so Derrick didn’t hear it – HA.
  • Since I have such a busy weekend, Derrick took me out to dinner for my birthday on Thursday night. It was the first time the two of us have been out to dinner alone since, maybe my last birthday? Yikes! It was delightful though to sit & have a conversation without being constantly interrupted. Don’t get me wrong – we love our kids & love sitting around the table with them – it just gets challenging to have conversations that they aren’t the center of.
