Highlight of the Week

Omigoodness! We officially have air conditioning in our house!!
After 3 years of making it through summer with just 2 window A/Cs, we now officially have air conditioning through our whole house (including our 3rd floor, which will very shortly be getting a major makeover!) It is amazing. And so quiet! If you have window A/Cs, you know just how loud they are – they have a big job to do after all. So, now our house is super quiet & it’s almost a little weird. It’ll take some getting used to – but in a completely wonderful way.

HUGE shout out to my Dad & brother who have put in a ton of “after-hours” work to get our new system installed & running! They are the BEST.

Yes, This Happened

  • I am now 24 weeks pregnant & baby boy is approximately the length of an ear of corn (oh yum, corn on the cob).
  • I know some pregnant women experience a lot of strange & exaggerated cravings – I haven’t had any of that with either of my pregnancies (so far). I mean, I’ve had small aversions to food and certain commercials or ads for a specific food will trigger something in my brain that says: “I want that!” But, nothing crazy (no pickles with ice cream or anything weird like that). I can say that I do really really love anything that is mayonnaise based (potato salad, that sort of thing) – I made chicken salad this past week & it was literally the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. So, just bring me all the potato salad & chicken salad & I’ll be a happy camper!
  • Monday was Braelynn & I’s semi-annual trip to the dentist! Braelynn did SO good! This time, instead of doing us back-to-back, they took us into side-by-side rooms and did our cleanings simultaneously. I was a little nervous about how she would do, being all by herself, but she did AMAZING. Of course, it helps that the dentist office we go to are made up of the sweetest, friendliest, overall best people around & make everything a lot of fun (especially for Braelynn, they have little nicknames for everything & make the whole cleaning a game that ends in a trip to the treasure chest)! I’m just so proud of my big girl & her “shiney” teeth!
  • Monday night was also our last “regular season” visit to Kennywood (cue all the weird emotions – how is it the end of summer already?) The park was absolutely packed – busier than we’ve ever seen it (and we’ve been there on some really busy days before)! The lines for the rides were insane! All I wanted was one last taste of Potato Patch French Fries & I stood in line for about 45 minutes for them – it was crazy!! Thankfully, the Kiddieland area is never as packed as the rest of the park & Braelynn was still able to get in 3 rides on her favorite ride (the Elephants). It’s just so weird that Kennywood isn’t going to be open during the week for us to just run over for a few hours in the evening anymore! How has the summer slipped by so fast?
  • Braelynn woke up one morning this week & told me that she had dreamed that her baby brother was here & was giving her kisses *cue all the waterworks.
  • As I pulled out of our driveway last Saturday morning to head to Brittany & Austin’s wedding, I got a little “ding” & notification on my dashboard that said I had “low tire pressure”. Not thinking anything of it, I just kept driving on to the wedding. It was only about 15 minutes away, so I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal (can you say naive little girl?). Since the wedding took place entirely in the same location, I never needed to go back out to my car during the course of the day – until the middle of the reception when I ran out to change my shoes. That’s when I noticed that I had a fairly flat back tire. I snapped a quick picture & sent it to Derrick, asking if I would be okay to make it home. He instantly responded, “No.” Thankfully, I was only 15 minutes away and he was able to run over to switch cars with me. He took my car to the nearest gas station & filled the tire with air, then proceeded to check the rest of the tires. As he came back to the original, flat tire, it had already lost significant air again (in other words, not good). Since it was late Saturday night, he just took it home and Sunday morning, got up & took it into a garage. They found the reason for the flat tire: a screw. So, needless to say, we’re now the proud new owners of some new tires.

Feeling Blessed

We’re officially on vacation – our last vacation as a family of 3!
Seriously, do I need to say more?
