Braelynn’s 8th Birthday | Dog Themed Birthday Party

Last week we celebrated Braelynn’s EIGHTH birthday with a DOG-THEMED birthday party, complete with cupcakes, loads of presents, a piñata, and surprise STREAMERS!

Last year, Derrick started a new “Abbey family tradition” – he sets off confetti poppers at every birthday party at a completely random time. Well, after he surprised Leander and me at our birthdays, Braelynn was ADAMANT – she did NOT want confetti! She even went to so far as to create signs, which she posted all around the house, warning everyone that she did NOT want confetti!
Knowing this, I went in search of a “confetti alternative” – we still wanted to do something fun, but without the loud POP and huge mess. Enter these streamers (https://amzn.to/3HB1M6M)!! They are contained within a “cup”, but “burst” out when you give them a good fling. They stay attached to the cup in your hand for SUPER easy clean up! AND – they go SUPER far! I honestly had no idea how far they would go, but they were EPIC and we were all so surprised by how awesome they were!

I’m not sure what it is about 8, but this one feels BIG to me. I’ve been struggling to wrap my brain around the fact that my sweet little baby is turning 8, but I just can’t do it. Eight seems so grown up – on the verge of so many “big” things.

Words cannot describe how much we all love Braelynn. She is our shining light, our princess, our treasured jewel – and our lives are so much better because she’s a part of our family.
