Welcome to our month of BIKE RIDING.
It feels like our entire June film is made up of my kids riding their bikes – but that’s honestly because that’s what we spent MOST of the month doing!
At the beginning of the month, neither Braelynn or Leander knew had to ride a bike. I got them bikes this past spring at a consignment sale, but this was the first time they really decided that they wanted to buckle down and learn how to ride.
So, I love that you can see the entire progression – from slow, nervous, not-knowing-what-to-do, to learning to balance, to learning to peddle, to learning to turn, to learning to go FAST – it’s amazing!
I am so proud of Braelynn! She did some hard work to teach herself how to ride her bike. And she did it entirely on her own – sure we were there to help, encourage, and guide her – but SHE had to do it, and she did! And I’m crazy proud of her!
I feel like my kids grow up right before my eyes over the course of this last month.
Moments of note this month:
(0:25) Braelynn discovered a bird in one of our bushes
(0:33) We babysat my nephew Leo one evening (while his Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner) and it was the BEST
(1:04) My baby sister Ruby turned 18 years old!
(2:27) Derrick’s birthday is also in June – so I invited everyone over and planned a little get-together to celebrate. I told everyone that we’d be outside AND THEN IT RAINED.
(5:08) Let the bike-riding begin!
(6:12) The day that it CLICKED and Braelynn learned how to peddle (in my parent’s backyard!)
(7:12) My favorite video clip EVER – Braelynn was getting more confident in her biking, and trying to figure out how to turn, but she didn’t quite make it and crashed into our bushes – we laughed SO HARD when we watched this back and still laugh so hard!

(9:27) We took Ruby to Kennywood for an afternoon and had so much fun (even though it rained!)
(11:35) We took the bikes to the park – and that’s when Braelynn learned she could go FAST!

Just in case you’ve missed what I’m doing – I decided that I wanted to create a curated “home video” for our family every month (remember those old “home movies” our families used to create? with the giant video recorders that an entire VHS tape fit in?) Those videos were fantastic, but if you’ve ever sat down to watch one (does anyone even own a VHS player anymore?) you very quickly realize that you do a lot of “fast-forwarding”.
So, my goal, is to take all the little videos I take of our family over the course of a month & create a short (my goal is to be around 10 minutes) video of my favorite snippets. I am SO excited to finally have a dedicated place to chronicle my family videos & keep them safe & accessible.
