April & Bobby | Sunrise Engagement Session on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh, PA

Isn’t it funny how friend-circles work? How they ebb and flow and interconnect and sometimes don’t?

That’s how April & Bobby’s story starts – April’s best friend happened to also be Bobby’s best friend – but April and Bobby had never met. That is, until college started and brought April and her best friend to St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. And St. Vincent is what finally brought April and Bobby’s friend-circles to interconnect and they finally met – even though Bobby wasn’t attending St. Vincent.

Brought together by mutual friends, they simply became friends.
April dated a few guys, Bobby remained single, and for 8 years, their friendship grew and deepened. They slowly became best friends and suddenly, one day they found themselves looking at each other and wondering, “Wait, why aren’t we dating?”

And so, they went out.
And it was the easiest, most natural relationship ever. Built on the foundation of 8 years of friendship, it was so easy and normal, and in the background, all of their friends smiled and said, “Duh.”

April and Bobby decided that they wanted to do something different for their engagement session – how about SUNRISE in Pittsburgh? We were hoping for one of those epic, pink and purple sunrises, but instead we got a super clear sky. It was still beautiful though! It was so much fun to watch the sky brighten, turn from blue to gold, and then to see the sun crest the horizon – what a beautiful planet we live on!

Don’t let the golden sunrise fool you though – it was absolutely freezing the morning we took these photos!! Temps rested in the low 30’s, and with the wind up on the hill, it was absolutely frigid. April and Bobby were the most incredible troopers though! They were game to try anything and we had such a marvelous time together! I can’t wait for their wedding next summer!
