Deep Creek Lake Family Vacation Photography

With the arrival of Daylight Savings Time this past weekend and the glorious sunshine & warm temps we had yesterday & the day before – it seems that spring has officially arrived. I know we’re bound to have a few more weeks of up-and-down weather before the warmth & sunshine are here to stay, but it’s so easy to step outside, take a nice deep breath of fresh clean air, and just know that winter has come to an end.

And you know what that means? It’s time to think about heading back down to Deep Creek Lake and opening up our family’s lake house! If that’s not the most wonderful thought ever, I don’t know what is!

With “time at the Lake” looming closer & closer, I wanted to officially open up my calendar for summer family sessions at Deep Creek Lake! I know what you’re thinking: “But Kara, you’re a wedding photographer, why are you talking about family sessions?” And you are correct: I mainly photograph beautiful wedding days & engagement sessions, but there’s just something extra fun about getting together with a family that is vacationing in one of my favorite, most relaxing places & capturing some fun family photos for them. Plus, let’s be honest: if I book a family portrait session at the Lake – that is the perfect excuse to spend extra time there myself!!

Last summer, I photographed a handful of really amazing families at the Lake & it was such a fun “break” from wedding photography – I would be thrilled to book some more fun vacationing families this summer! Oh, and because what’s a blog post without photos – here is a big family sessions I did last summer! This family gathered in one central house for an extended weekend – family members driving & flying in from all over the country! Some family hadn’t seen each other since other family’s wedding – so they had all committed to gathering in one amazing place (Deep Creek Lake, MD) to reconnect. And it was my honor to commemorate their weekend with a little photography! We did a big family photo, but then I broke everyone into smaller groups so that everyone would have some really great portraits to remember the weekend with. And the best part of it all – we did everything right there in the backyard of their rental!
