The Vandermer’s // Irwin, PA // Family Photographer

I knew I was going to love these guys from the very first email I got from Amy. She explained that she & Kevin were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary this year & they decided that they wanted to give each other the gift of family photos to celebrate! Amy explained that they hadn’t had an updated family photo in years (way longer than anyone cared to admit) and she desperately wanted fun & laid back photos of her family. I was only too happy to oblige!

I think, somewhere along the line, Amy & I must be related! We laughed about all of our similar interests: a love for Panera and thrifting and all things crafty & DIY! Yes! My kindred spirit! I think what impressed me the most about Amy was her genuine love for her family. She loves her husband so so much. 20 years of marriage & her eyes still light up whenever she would look over at him. And Kevin could sure make Amy smile – for sure! Together they make the cutest couple, who you can tell have weathered some storms and fought some battles, but come out on the other side stronger and more victorious than before.

And Mason! Well, they simply adore their son. He might be 15 years old, but he’s absolutely his Mama’s baby boy. Amy absolutely treasures her son and you can tell, he loves his Mama too. Don’t let him fool you – especially when I asked him who his favorite parent was and he sheepishly answered, “Dad”, his Mama truly holds his heart! Mason is such a genuine sweetheart – but you can tell – he’s got a crazy brain in that head as well! And that combination of smarts and humility will take him so far in life!

Mason was only too excited to climb up into this tree! We hardly even had to suggest it before he was on his way up!

We had two visitors during our session – the first much more friendly than the second! We all admired and coo’ed at the little frog we found hopping around in the grass. The snake we found later on – not so much! Thankfully, Kevin was utterly fearless & took care of the evil thing while Amy & I were running up the hill, screaming like little girls (hence the lack of snake photos!)

After we did a few family photos, and some photos of just Mason, we had to get these two love birds together & document their adorable love – how cute are they?!
