Snowy Winter Engagement Photos at Golden Hour

In honor of good old Groundhog Phil predicting 6 more weeks of winter this morning – I wanted to share Jess & Adam’s incredible snowy winter engagement photos! We did these on New Years Day & I’m still absolutely in love with everything about how these chilly, golden images turned out. Of course, it helps to have the most adorable head-over-heels-in-love couple splashing every frame with their happiness!

If looking at Adam & Jess gives you feelings of deja vu, it’s because you’ve seen then before! Rewind to Megan & Anwar’s wedding in 2015 – Jess is Megan’s sister & was her Maid of Honor and Adam was the official keeper of Copper (Megan & Anwar’s dog)! I am floored and honored and humbled and over-the-moon-excited to be reunited with this sweet family and to be able to work with them once again is a literal dream come true!

Jess & Adam both went to Broome County Community College for law enforcement degrees, but that’s not where they met. One spring semester, they both volunteered to work security at Binghamton University for the annual Southern Tier Heart Walk. From the moment he saw her, Adam was head over heels – he instantly knew that he just had to get to know this girl. And likewise, like a magnet, Jess was instantly drawn to Adam. There was only one small problem: Jess was currently dating someone else.

Introductions were made and a quick friendship was formed. Over a period of the next 5 years, that quick friendship grew into the most steadfast and strong relationship. Jess considered Adam to be her best friend. Over those 5 years, she dated several guys and Adam even dated one very persistent young woman (who asked him to marry her not once or twice, but five times!) but they always remained close with each other.

Finally, Adam hit a “brick wall”: he was tired and felt like his life wasn’t moving forward in the direction that he wanted it to go. His brother was living on the West Coast & invited Adam to come out to visit & see if he’d like to stay. Excited by the opportunity to try something new, Adam told Jess that he was planning on leaving. Shocked into reality, Jess realized she simply could not let him go. She could not imagine him leaving – what would she do without him? Suddenly, she realized just how much she actually cared about him – as more than just her best friend.

You can probably connect the dots and figure out that Adam never went to California. It was a duh moment for the both of them and a little over a year later, he sealed the deal with a sparkly diamond ring. But that’s another story, for another time.

If you can’t tell – I love these two. When I meet with couples to talk about their wedding photography, those meetings typically last about an hour. I sat at Starbucks with Jess & Adam for almost 3 hours and didn’t even realize the time passing. We talked about engagement photos and they said they wanted to be different & have photos taken in the snow. And then we hit the trillion dollar jackpot with the day we had – snow on the ground, but not quite freezing temps, and the golden sunlight lighting up the world and making everything magical.

6 more weeks of winter? I don’t mind at all if we can fill those 6 weeks with days that look like this!
