Abbys Saturday Halloween Costumes in Irwin PA
  • Since Halloween is on Tuesday – and the weather is supposed to be abysmal – I took photos of the kids in their costumes this week (because, as usual, the weather this week was glorious – it always seems to be that way the week before Halloween).
This year, we have Princess Peach, Mario, and Luigi. I have literally been dreaming of this costume “set” for over a year. I really wanted to make it happen last year, but I couldn’t bring myself to pay full-price for the costumes 2 weeks before Halloween (so we just went with our originally scheduled programming). Last year at this time, they kids liked Mario, but they weren’t at the “level” that they’re at THIS year. This year, the Mario movie came out (which we saw in theaters and they’ve watched at least 100 times since it came out digitally), we’ve started playing Mario Party as a family over pizza on Sunday nights – and Leander is finally old enough (and competent enough) to play (for real) with us too. So, the costumes are much more appropriate this year – and they’re adorable!
Halloween might be on Tuesday, but they’ve definitely got their fair wear out of these costumes! They’ve worn them several times already – plus Leander wears his Mario or Luigi hats all the time!
If you’d like a stroll down memory lane & what we’ve done in the past for Halloween – you see those posts here: #427#375#323#271#223#171#119#68, & Baby Braelynn as Snow White
  • Last Sunday, we celebrated all the precious, wonderful memories we have of my Grandma. We had a small memorial service Sunday morning, followed by an intimate luncheon at my parent’s house. So many beautiful memories were shared and a lot of tears spilled, but it was a really beautiful time of celebrating her life and legacy. Her passing still doesn’t quite seem real and the grief this week has come and gone in waves. Mostly, I’ve just been so thankful and grateful for her, the relationship we had, and the relationships my kids had with her.
  • It’s been a beautiful week, but also par for the course: we’ve been sick all week. And by “we”, I mean the kids and Derrick. Knock on wood, so far, I’ve avoided the cold/cough that the kids and Derrick have had! No matter, we couldn’t let some boogers and coughing keep us from enjoying what will probably be the last “nice” week of fall! We went for walks, rode bikes, played outside a lot, and finished off the week with a picnic lunch at the park yesterday. Derrick got in what he’s hoping will be the last mow of the season and he worked on cleaning up our yard back at the beginning of the week – I guess that means we’re ready for winter now.
  • Last weekend, I was standing in the kitchen and Leander came in to tell me something. I looked at him and instantly stopped what I was doing to take a closer look because one of his front teeth was crooked! Turns out – the kid has a SUPER loose tooth! How did that even happen? He seems way too young to have a loose tooth already!
Initially, he freaked out – he asked if I could give him medicine so that he could keep his tooth. But then Braelynn explained that losing a tooth means you put it under your pillow and you get a big prize the next morning. He started warming to the idea then!
It was so loose last weekend, I thought for sure he would pull it out sometime this week, but NOPE. No lost tooth yet! He hasn’t been too keen on wiggling it (I honestly think he just completely forgets about it!) So, we’ll see how long it stays in his mouth. (Watch Leander be one of those kids that bites into an apple and his tooth just pops right out OR it falls out while he’s eating and he swallows it!)
  • Since the week was so beautiful – we capitalized on the weather – I took my sister Amy’s family photos this week and then my sister Ellen took our family photos this week! WHEW it feels good to have that done! Choosing cohesive, but not too matching, clothes for family photos is a huge task. I’m not super obsessed with what we wore this year, but it was fine and did the job.
  • I have been working on 3 wedding albums for the last few weeks (the most albums I’ve ever created simultaneously!) and 2 of the 3 officially came in this week! Man, are they stunning. I know I’m biased because I took the photos and designed the entire album, but they are just so beautiful! I actually met with both couples this morning to deliver them – it truly is the cherry on top of the entire wedding process – to be able to hand someone a beautiful family heirloom quality album of their wedding photos. I wish EVERYONE would get a wedding album!
